Banskobystrický Brewery URPINER has once again managed to secure top positions at the prestigious international tasting competition FRANKFURT INTERNATIONAL TROPHY 2025, where it won two significant awards.
The Gold medal, the GOLD FRANKFURT TROPHY, in the category of Pilsner-style light lagers, was awarded to Urpiner Premium 12° beer, which, with its first-class quality and unmistakable taste, has long maintained its position as one of the best Slovak beers.
Taking it a step further, the draught light lager Urpín 93 11° received the highest possible award, the GRAND GOLD FRANKFURT TROPHY, in the same category.
In this year’s competition, more than 3,550 samples from 44 countries worldwide were evaluated under the expert supervision of renowned specialists from the fields of brewing, tasting, and gastronomy. In such strong competition, this is a huge success, which confirms the stable quality and growing reputation of Slovak beer Urpiner on an international scale.
What makes Urpiner beer exceptional is not just its success in competitions, but primarily its traditional method of production, based on honest artisanal processes and the use of quality Slovak ingredients. Urpiner It is brewed from unique Banská Bystrica water, the highest quality Slovak hops, and protected Levice malt. The beer then naturally matures for up to 7 weeks, which gives it its characteristic fullness, balanced bitterness, and delicate taste.
This triumph is no coincidence – Banskobystrický Brewery has scored in Frankfurt for the third consecutive year. While in 2023, Urpiner Premium 12° beer received the highest award, the GRAND GOLD, last year, these two beers were awarded silver medals. This clearly demonstrates that the quality of beers from the smallest industrial brewery in Slovakia has a consistently growing trend.
While URPINER is the smallest industrial brewery in Slovakia, its quality ranks among the best, as evidenced by an attribute that only the elite of brewing can boast – “The Most Awarded Slovak Brewery”. Since 2006, Urpiner brand beers have won more than 55 quality awards from domestic and international competitions, including titles such as EUROPEAN BEER STAR, BEER OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC, CZECH BEER SEAL, SLOVAK BEER CROWN, and of course FRANKFURT INTERNATIONAL TROPHY. And therefore, it rightfully holds the epithet EXCEPTIONAL SLOVAK BEER.
Branislav Cvik and Ľubomír Vančo, the owners of Banskobystrický Brewery, revived an unprofitable company and built it into a competitive and very successful enterprise.
